Do not use harsh soaps which can deliberately injure or irritate your skin. Avoid scrubbing your face with wash gloves or wash cloths. Coarse-textured sponges can damage your skin.
Hydrate the skin. Use an apt moisturizer to keep the skin well-hydrated. Many facial cleansers and skin care products cause dry skin. Moisturizers lock in moisture to keep the skin from peeling and flaking. Gel-based moisturizers are good for oily skin while cream-based ones are best for dry skin. A combination of both maybe necessary if your skin is partly oily and partly dry.
Do not use make-up on a regular basis. Unless your work demands it, it is advised to use make-up sparingly. Since most of the components of a make-up can irritate the skin, many experts do not advise use of make-up during acne breakouts. Choose water-based cosmetics over oil-based. If you do wear make-up a lot, remove them before going to bed.
Eat well. Since skin nourishment is dependent on what you eat. It is important that your body gets the right amount of nutrition everyday. Increase Vitamin A and beta-carotene in your diet. These compounds are found to be important in maintaining skin integrity.
Regular exercise is essential. Exercising stabilizes mood, decreases stress, boosts immune system and regulates blood flow.
Get rid of stress. According to many studies, stress in whatever form induces hormonal changes which can stimulate acne development. Find effective and working ways to manage your stress levels. Learn to manage your time and prioritize your work.
